When we consider the challenges American homeless children face every day through no fault of their own, we can see the need for clothes, access to recreation, and other everyday resources many of us take for granted. We will be looking for established non-profit partners who have giving models to reach these children directly and efficiently.
No one knows what it is like to be homeless unless it has happened to them, so instead of trying to figure out how someone got to that point in their lives, we want to focus on how to help them now. We will support efforts that provide free education and employment skills to homeless parents to help them find gainful employment through partnerships with local homeless nonprofits in the communities where we live and work.
According to the International Policy Digest, there are an estimated 500 thousand homeless people living without permanent housing in the United States. The problem is very dynamic and can occur as a result of a number of different factors, and the solution needs to be dynamic as well. Local state programs, religious organizations, and the business community should be working together to assist these people in their climb back up to a position of self-sufficiency.
Creativity allows us to be free. Music, dancing, drawing, and creating something with your hands, mind, and emotions help us feel something wonderful and release our inner creative energy. As children, we need this experience, and as a homeless child, it is even more important. We support the arts by partnering with and giving to arts programs that provide such art experiences to the homeless in each city where we have a presence.
We are excited to discover the Drawbridge program, which aims to bring art to homeless children, and we want to help. You can find out more about this program at Drawbridge. If you have a program similar to Drawbridge, please forward your recommendations to leenabella@buyjunto.com.
